Banghwa's craft is the living world: herb lore, needle work, the slow disciplines of mending what is broken. Its cultivators are healers first and students of growing things always — the medicinal markets of Danhyang carry the sect's guarantee, and a Banghwa-trained healer is welcome at any door in the realm.
Their combat philosophy follows from their craft. A healer who understands how a body knits together understands, precisely, how it comes apart. Banghwa teaches restraint, redirection, and patience — and reserves what lies past restraint for the rare occasions that demand it.
The compound is more estate than fortress: healing halls, teaching gardens, and terraces of medicinal beds sprawling through the warm hills near Danhyang. Its gates stand open. Patients arrive from every province, and no one who comes to be healed is turned away over coin.
Among the five pillars, Banghwa holds a strange kind of standing — the sect every other sect owes. Some mistake its compassion for softness. The old houses know better: Banghwa has never once started a war, and has, however, finished several.
