Jinsan Sect

진산 · “True Mountain

The frozen frontier beyond Kkeutmaeul — the realm's far north

Jinsan's craft is seeing what is actually there. Its cultivators train as investigators and readers of human nature — students of testimony, of falsehood, of the small involuntary confessions a body makes when the mouth is lying. Courts and magistrates once sent for them the way the sick send for Banghwa.

In combat they are counter-fighters. A Jinsan cultivator watches, waits, and answers — every feint read, every habit catalogued. Fighting one has been compared to arguing with someone who already knows what you are about to say.

Five hundred years ago, the sect produced the most famous cultivator in the realm's history. He ascended — the only ascension in living record — and became the God of Truth, serving the heavens as the arbiter of what was real and what was false. How that service ended is common knowledge, told in every province: he was judged to have broken the law he embodied, stripped of his divinity, and destroyed. What is not common knowledge is what he actually did. The heavens have never said.

The sect has been reclusive ever since. Its frozen compound past Kkeutmaeul receives few visitors and sends fewer emissaries, and its standing among the pillars is a strange one — half reverence for what it produced, half unease for the same reason.
